SB 966   RELATING TO TAXATION                       ECD, WAM
        Permits a tax credit for increasing research
        activities.
        (FUKUNAGA, LEVIN, et. al.)

SB 2482  RELATING TO TECHNOLOGY BUSINESS TAXATION   ECD, WAM
        Allows biotechnology companies to sell their unused
        net operating loss carryover and unused tax credits to
        other qualified biotechnology companies.  Also extends
        capital loss carryforward for biotechnology companies.

Testimony for the following three bills will be taken together:

SB 3015  RELATING TO COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL      ECD, WAM
        IMPROVEMENTS
        Creates commercial and industrial improvements tax
        credit to be deducted from taxpayer's net income tax
        liability.

SB 3018  RELATING TO TAXATION                       ECD, WAM
        Provides GET exemption to resort developers.

SB 2781  RELATING TO TAXATION                       ECD, WAM
        Provides a tax credit similar to the hotel remodeling
        tax credit (Act 108, Session Laws of Hawaii 1997)
        effective for tax years 1999-2001.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 25 single-sided, stapled
copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 201, State
Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be
faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-
Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor
islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing,
please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the
date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies
needed for submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services
to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language
interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior
to the hearing so arrangements can be made.
